The Benefits of Online Resident Portals – Home Owner Association (HOA) Property Management Education in Twin Cities, MN

Tom Sedlack - Monday, February 29, 2016

Online resident portals are useful tools for communicating with your Minnesota HOA management company and your HOA board leadership. If you belong to an HOA that we manage, you simply go to the website we provided and log into your account. Once you’re in your portal, there are a few important things you can do.

Viewing Member Statements

On your portal, you’re able to view your HOA member statement. Every month, we post the member statements for the following month. At that point, you can print your statement and mail in your payment with the coupon on the bottom of the statement. If you have electronic funds transfers set up, you don’t need to do that because you can pay online. However, it’s always a good idea to review your statement.

Checking Community Announcements

You’ll also have the opportunity to check announcements such as the snowfall announcements or garbage pickup information for the holiday season. These things are on your portal. You can review your governing documents as well. Take a look at them every so often. Some people only look at them when they purchase a property, but you want to keep up with any changes.

Minutes and Forms

Meeting minutes from board meetings are there as well, and they also appear in the quarterly newsletter. On your portal, you can find forms you may need like the architectural review form. This is the paperwork you need to submit for approval if you want to change anything to the exterior of your house – such as putting up a satellite dish. You always need permission from the board and you can find the right forms in your portal. You can also fill out an online maintenance request form. If anything needs repair or maintenance and it’s something the HOA is responsible for, go there and fill it out. That request gets emailed directly to one of us on the team, and we start a work order to get your issue repaired.

These benefits will help Minnesota HOA members stay informed. If you have any questions about the value of online portals, please contact us at 33rd Company Minnesota.
